London, UK., October 22, 2007 -- Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd and eCopy, Inc. have concluded a distribution partnership agreement. Under the terms of the agreement Konica Minolta will offer its customers eCopy document imaging software, including its portfolio of Connectors to business applications.
eCopy document imaging software enables Konica Minolta customers to improve the speed and productivity of business workflows by using their bizhubTM multifunctional system to easily convert paper-based information into digital documents and securely incorporate them into their business software systems.
The award winning Konica Minolta line up of document imaging systems ranges from an entry-level 13 ppm (print per minute) multifunctional, through to the bizhub PRO 1050e production print system for high speed commercial print applications. The latest generation of Konica Minolta document imaging systems are designated 'bizhub'.
"Konica Minolta is focused on delivering superior solutions that address our customers' evolving needs. This new partnership with eCopy can help us achieve this goal by delivering ease of use and security features that our customers require," said John Howard, Head of UK Marketing for Konica Minolta Business Solutions. "By adding eCopy technology to our portfolio, we offer our customers document scanning capabilities to the more than 55 business applications that will now have direct integration to Konica Minolta bizhubs."
Konica Minolta can now offer its customers the following eCopy products:
- eCopy ScanStation™, which includes eCopy ShareScan® software and an ergonomic touch screen and keyboard that attach easily to Konica Minolta bizhub MFDs. ScanStation enables organizations to scan paper originals directly into enterprise applications for e-mail, financials, human resources, reporting, administration, customer management, and other business processes. These applications include Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint, EMC Documentum and Infonic TokOpen.
- eCopy Desktop™ is PC software that enables office workers to easily and efficiently capture, edit, share, and store scanned documents in PDF form. Through an easy to use interface, eCopy Desktop offers advanced imaging tools that include annotation, stamps, optical character recognition (OCR) and the ability to combine documents from both paper and electronic sources.
- eCopy Connectors enable users to incorporate documents directly from Konica Minolta bizhub MFDs into business applications. The application program interface (API)-level integration transforms ShareScan into a client of the enterprise application at the MFD. This provides real-time interaction between the user interface at the MFD and the backend application, which improves document security and ease of use, and reduces the required amount of IT administration.
In addition, independent software vendors (ISVs) and corporate developers can add their applications to the list of software that supports eCopy scanning simply by developing a Connector to the eCopy platform. This enables their users to scan documents directly to their software using a bizhub MFD.
According to Tim Durant, General Manager at eCopy, "The need to seamlessly incorporate paper documents into electronic workflows is becoming increasingly important as office workers can no longer wait for documents to be sent through interoffice mail or courier. At the same time, IT management is becoming more involved in office multifunctional device buying decisions as these devices become full-function network citizens. eCopy provides the critical products and expertise to help Konica Minolta address this changing landscape."
