Agreement enables Lanier MFPs to scan documents directly to more than 45 enterprise applications

eCopy Paper Connection Forum, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., April 3, 2006 — Lanier Worldwide, Inc. today announced it will begin distributing products made by eCopy, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications. This provides Lanier customers with the ability to integrate Lanier digital multifunction products (MFPs) with more than 45 enterprise applications such as EMC Documentum Content Server, Captaris RightFax, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Outlook/Exchange. eCopy products are available immediately to all authorized Lanier dealers in North America.

"Organizations in virtually every market are making substantial investments in enterprise content management systems and often seek to leverage their investment by merging paper and electronic workflows," said Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of Marketing for Lanier. "They expect these systems to integrate seamlessly with Lanier MFPs for input, management, and output. Products from eCopy are considered among the best in the industry for input into these types of systems.

"Adding the eCopy products to our portfolio transforms our complete line of Lanier MFPs into powerful components in an extremely wide range of enterprise system architectures in workgroup, departmental, and enterprise-wide configurations. Any of the hundreds of millions of office workers will be able to use Lanier MFPs to easily scan paper originals directly into workflows, quickly and conveniently."

Vickie Malis, vice president of Marketing at eCopy, agrees with Pontrelli's assessment.

"Businesses and government organizations recognize there is a fundamental change taking place in how they incorporate paper documents into electronic workflows," Malis said. "No longer does document scanning require specialized staff and equipment that can cause bottlenecks and delays in the flow of business. As a result, the MFP has become a critical entry point in IT infrastructures designed for managing the complete document lifecycle."

Lanier will make the following eCopy products available through Lanier dealers:

eCopy ScanStation™ includes an ergonomic touch screen, keyboard, and PC that attach easily to Lanier MFPs, enabling organizations to scan paper originals at the MFP into enterprise applications for e-mail, financials, human resources, reporting, administration, customer management, and other business processes. ScanStation includes ShareScan™, an easy-to-use, customizable software tool for document imaging and distribution.

eCopy Desktop™ enables end-users to work with and distribute scanned documents from their workstation PCs as if they were working with paper. The PC software provides a complete set of tools, including annotation, stamps, and optical character recognition (OCR).

eCopy Connectors enable users to incorporate documents directly from ScanStation into more than 45 enterprise applications. The application program interface (API)-level integration transforms ShareScan into a client of the enterprise application at the Lanier MFP. This provides real-time interaction between the user interface at the MFP and the backend application, which improves document security, ease of use and reduces the required amount of IT administration.
