Mahwah, N.J. and Nashua, N.H., September 22, 2005 -- Sharp, an industry leader in secure network office and digital copier solutions, and eCopy™, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, have extended their partnership to include distribution. Sharp is distributing the eCopy Suite of products to its North American independent dealer network.
In addition, the agreement enables Sharp to provide training and marketing support for its dealers by bundling eCopy information into Sharp's advanced dealer education programs. eCopy products, including eCopy ScanStation™ v3.0, eCopy Desktop™, and eCopy Connectors, can now be sold by Sharp dealers.
ScanStation helps transform Sharp digital copiers into information hubs that leverage the customers' application software to improve business processes and the security of paper-based information. eCopy augments Sharp's industry-leading security features, which include user authentication, data encryption and digital data shredding. ScanStation consists of eCopy ShareScan v3.0 software and an ergonomic, integrated touch screen, keyboard, and PC, which is used to operate the software and make it easy for the user to capture document-specific data.
Through the use of eCopy Connectors, ScanStation makes it effortless for any office worker to use Sharp digital copiers to scan documents into enterprise applications such as content management, enterprise e-mail, and fax server software. Specific eCopy Connectors include Interwoven WorkSite, Microsoft Exchange, and Captaris RightFax. Captaris is also a Sharp partner. Using eCopy solutions, organizations can extend the benefits of their computer infrastructure to provide faster transfer, improved security, and better protection of information to paper documents.
"Sharp dealers can help customers incorporate paper documents into virtually any software application by offering a combined IMAGER and eCopy bundle," said Ed McLaughlin, president, Sharp Document Solutions Company of America. "Sharp's highly efficient Scan2 capability, which scans two-sided documents in a single pass, makes it more efficient to use eCopy by reducing the time needed to integrate hardcopy documents into an organization's electronic workflow."
According to Edward Schmid, president and CEO, eCopy, "The need to integrate paper documents into electronic workflows is gaining attention, and customers are seeking document management solutions instead of simply buying boxes. At the same time, IT management is becoming involved in more and more MFP buying decisions. To help address their customers' changing needs, eCopy has built a dedicated team of professionals to provide the marketing and technical support needed for Sharp dealers to take advantage of the opportunity that our solutions offer."
On April 5, 2005, Sharp and eCopy announced Sharp copiers were certified as eCopy Ready and the companies were working together to provide improved customer workflow solutions.
Today's announcement is the next step in the partnership between the two companies.
