Agreement Brings Award Winning Document Imaging and Distribution Solution to Toshiba's Scandinavian Customers

September 2005 -- Toshiba TEC Nordic AB, which provides Network Document Solutions for individuals and businesses to improve their productivity and efficiency, and eCopy™, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today announced an agreement enabling Toshiba to distribute eCopy products through its extensive dealer and direct sales network in the Nordic Countries.

Additionally, the agreement enables Toshiba to provide eCopy training and marketing support for its dealers. eCopy products, including eCopy ScanStation, eCopy Desktop, and eCopy Connectors, can now be sold by Toshiba.

ScanStation transforms a Toshiba e-STUDIO multi-function system into an information hub that leverages customers' application software to improve business processes and the security of paper-based information. ScanStation consists of eCopy ShareScan v3.0 software and an ergonomically-designed touch screen, keyboard, and PC, which is used to operate the software and make it simple and easy for the user to capture document-specific data. eCopy Desktop provides a complete set of tools, including annotation, stamps, and optical character recognition (OCR), to work with and distribute scanned documents as part of electronic workflows. eCopy Connectors enable users to incorporate documents into applications directly from ShareScan.

"eCopy ScanStation is a market leading product because it provides a simple means of connecting a Toshiba e-STUDIO MFD to e-mail and other networked applications for a low cost, easy, and instantaneous solution that distributes and manages scanned documents," said Hakan Larsson, Manager, Toshiba TEC Nordic AB. "With eCopy, customers can use paper documents in the same way as electronic documents, taking full advantage of their network and enterprise applications, which could include, for example, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, EMC Documentum, Hummingbird, Captaris RightFax, Topcall, Tokairo TokOpen, IBM Lotus Notes and many local Nordic ISVs."

Larsson added that Toshiba had been one of the first companies to take advantage of the Open Platform eCOPY products thanks in part to its own e-BRIDGE "all-in-one" controller technology employed on all e-STUDIO MFDs. It's the simplicity and compatibility of e-BRIDGE enabled devices that has facilitated the rapid implementation of eCOPY on e-STUDIO MFDs. Larsson continued: "The addition of eCopy provides an excellent platform for us to expand our market opportunities by transforming Toshiba e-STUDIO MFDs into paper 'on-ramps' for the 45 enterprise applications that are integrated with eCopy software. Additionally, it gives us an opportunity to diversify revenue streams and increase product and aftermarket revenues."

Through the use of eCopy Connectors, ScanStation makes it effortless for any office worker to use Toshiba e-STUDIO systems to scan documents into enterprise applications such as content management, enterprise e-mail, and fax server software. Using eCopy products, companies can extend the benefits of their computer infrastructure to provide faster transfer, improved security, and better protection of information for paper documents.

Alan Cornwell, general manager, eCopy Europe added, "The need to integrate paper documents into electronic workflows is fast becoming a critical business issue, and the value of our delivering a complete integrated solution is particularly compelling to customers. With the increasing requirement for regulatory compliance, storing and accessing paper documents electronically is critical to Scandinavian businesses of all kinds. This agreement with Toshiba not only provides eCopy with an excellent opportunity to expand our business in this critical European market, but provides businesses with a secure, efficient and invaluable document imaging and distribution solution incorporating Toshiba's e-STUDIO multi-function devices."
