How
do I obtain eCopy software updates?
You must first register your software
and have a current eCopy software
support agreement. To register
your eCopy products go to: http://www.eCopy.com/registration/
Once registered, you will see
an Upgrade Center option within
your account registration profile;
this is where you will see the
upgrades that you are eligible
to receive. In the future, the
person who registers the software
is the eCopy contact and will
receive an e-mail notification
for available software updates.
What is
the difference between product
registration and product activation?
Product registration along with
a current eCopy software support
agreement provides the user with
technical product support and
incremental software updates during
the warranty period. Product activation
is required before the 30 day
software grace period expires
or the application is locked down.
Why
am I unable to search and
find text in PDF documents (with
Create Searchable Text) using
Windows Explorer within Windows
XP? My Windows 2000 machine works
fine.
According to an article at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;309173
when you search for files that
contain text by using the "A
word or phrase in the file"
search criterion, the search results
may not be correct. Windows XP
registers filter components only
for file types that are associated
with common document types. To
date, this is only seen on Windows
XP systems. To obtain a registry
file that will register eCopy
file types, please contact eCopy
Support to arrange to have the
file and installation instructions
sent.

Security Bulletin MS04-028 JPEG
GDI |
Microsoft
recently published a GDI+ security
update for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft
Office, and Microsoft developer
tools to address newly discovered
issues in JPEG processing. Microsoft
has recommended that customers apply
the update immediately if they have
installed any of the affected programs
or components listed in the MS04-028
Security Bulletin. The bulletin
also notes that any third party
applications that distribute the
GDIPlus.dll file may also need to
patch their products.
Although eCopy ShareScan and eCopy
Desktop install the GDIPlus.dll
file in Program Files\eCopy\Desktop\Bin,
it is not used to process JPEG images.
This file is only used for eCopy's
ScanFromFile component for conducting
scanning demos. Therefore, eCopy
ShareScan and eCopy Desktop are
not vulnerable to this issue. |
|
|
What is
the difference between an eCopy
Connector and eCopy Quick Connect? |
A
"Connector" is an add-on link between
an eCopy-enabled scanner or digital
copier and a networked software
application or service like e-mail,
document management systems, fax
servers, enterprise software applications,
etc. It is a physical piece of software.
A "Quick Connect" is a feature/function
within eCopy ShareScan. You can
configure "Quick Connect" in virtually
unlimited ways using any number
of scanning profiles. You can set
up custom "scan to file" buttons
(total cannot exceed 6 buttons on
the eCopy touch screen) that can
use shared folders on your network
and utilize batch processing. Check
the eCopy ShareScan Administration
guide for setup details. |
|
|
| Why
does my eCopy ScanStation appear
to hang during the "Restore to Factory"
process? |
| Check
to see that you do not have a SCSI
device connected. If stuck in the
Recovery console menu, power down
the PC and disconnect the SCSI cable.
Repeat the "Restore to Factory"
process and the system should boot
into the operating system after
the factory restore. Power down
the PC and reconnect the SCSI cable. |
|
|
| PDFs
created with eCopy software open
fine everywhere except for on a
Blackberry handheld. Why is this? |
| Blackberry
only supports text pdf's (Adobe
PDF's) not image pdf's which is
what eCopy and Canon generate. |
|
|
| Is
Windows XP SP2 supported? |
|
Windows XP SP2 is supported with
the current shipping versions of
eCopy ShareScan 8.3 Build XX and
eCopy Desktop 8.5 Build 0.116. We
do not have any plans to certify
Windows XP SP2 with earlier versions.
|
|
|
| Why
do I need to register my eCopy products? |
| To
receive product technical support
or any software upgrades, eCopy
requires the software be registered.
Visit our registration page for
more details and product registration

|
|
How do I verify
the software version and build number
of my eCopy product? |
| For
eCopy Desktop: Select "Help" and
then "About eCopy Desktop," the
eCopy version and build number appears
in the menu. For eCopy ShareScan:
Select "Advanced," select "eCopy
ShareScan," then select "About ShareScan,"
the eCopy version and build number
appears in the menu. |
|
|
| What
happens if I suspect a hardware
problem with my eCopy ScanStation? |
| Contact
your dealer. The dealer will determine
through onsite troubleshooting if
further assistance is needed. The
dealer should also verify that your
eCopy software is registered (eCopy
requires the software to be registered
before any technical support can
be provided). |
|
|
| How
do I replace a part that is under
warranty? |
| Call
your dealer first. eCopy Support
will only issue an RMA (Return Material
Authorization) to authorized dealers.
The dealer needs to contact eCopy
Support directly to expedite any
parts that customers would require.
The number for eCopy Support is
+1.603.881.4450. |
